The Xbox One S and One X both launched mid-generation in 2016, which is a distinction from past console release patterns. However, since Microsoft discontinued all Xbox One models together, it's doubtful that we'll see any games come to the Xbox One X but not the original Xbox One.

Most of the big Xbox Game Studios titles that have been announced without a release date, such as the next Forza Motorsport and Fable games, are only coming to Xbox Series XS and PC. Thus, the end of Xbox One-compatible releases is likely near. 2023 might be the last year the Xbox One receives entries for yearly titles like FIFA and Call of Duty.

Similarly, say you bought a game like Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox One that didn't have a Series XS optimized version at launch. When you upgrade to a Series X, you can play the backward-compatible Xbox One version on your Series X, then upgrade to the optimized version at no cost when it becomes available.

Most software that you buy directly from Microsoft, like Office, Windows, and Xbox games, comes as a digital download that you can download, install, or reinstall. After you purchase software, the download will be shown in your Order history. To find a specific download, sign in to the Order history page with the Microsoft account you used to make the purchase. Find the software, and then select Product key/Install.

The Xbox One vs PS4 is somewhat moot now that we have the Xbox Series X and PS5. But the long tail of the past console generation with cross-generation games rather common, now might be a good time to pick up which ever console you don't have.

Both the Xbox One and PS4 are still worthy consoles offering gaming at 1080p, though the Xbox One X can hit up to 4K. Furthermore, with a mature library of games, you won't be short on things to play as you wait for the new Microsoft and Sony consoles to become easier to buy.

If you have a library of existing Xbox 3060 and original Xbox game, then the Xbox One is the console to get for backwards compatalbity. It'll play nice with a lot of older games, including classics like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Ninja Gaiden Black and Jade Empire.

Yet despite these specs, the PS4 is actually better at putting down its power than the Xbox One. That's because Microsoft's games console uses some of its resources to power the operating system, meaning it has less grunt to bring to bear on games. As such, in some games the Xbox One kicks out a resolution of 900p, whereas the PS4 hits the Full HD 1080p resolution. So the PS4 has the edge when it comes to delivering the crispest of last-generation graphics.

Comparatively, PlayStation Plus members on the basic tier get two free games per PlayStation console for $10 a month, as well as game save cloud storage; Xbox One gets this for free. Discounts on on some of the best PS4 games can be had with PlayStation Plus memberships.

Winner: Xbox Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass is such a bargain that it's hard for Sony to compete against it. And with new games set to launch day one on Game Pass, it's now an essential service for Xbox players.

It may seem odd to come to a conclusion on the best last-generation console, but as these machines are still getting games made for them, they are far from irrelevant. Ultimately, the PS4 is the overall winner, all down to its larger selection of exclusive games.

Do not run this conversion app on any Xbox development hardware acquired through an Xbox managed program (for example, ID@Xbox) or you may introduce errors and delays while developing your game. If you're a managed partner, you can get more information on activating development hardware. Go to -us/games/xbox/docs/gdk/provisioning-role.

Iconic games like Halo Infinite and Horizon Forbidden West set the boundary for both last-gen consoles and their next-gen counterparts. So this is great news for anyone without the budget for a new console who still wants to play some of the most iconic titles on both platforms. However, cross-generation releases are slowly winding down, so just be aware of that before going ahead with a purchase.

PS4 reserves up to 3.5GB for its operating system, leaving developers with 4.5GB, according to the documentation. They can sometimes access an extra 1GB of "flexible" memory when it's available, but that's not guaranteed.

Then, you get to the Xbox One X, which blows away the other consoles by offering a drastically higher 12GB of RAM, meaning that game developers have access to a whopping 9GB of RAM for games (a necessity when playing in native 4K).

Both the Xbox One S and Xbox One X boxes contain an HDMI cable and a 14-day free trial for Microsoft's Xbox Live Gold online service. There's no USB charging cable, as the Xbox One controller uses batteries out of the box. However, while the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition box comes with all this, it includes three digital game downloads and a free trial of Xbox Game Pass - Microsoft's game subscription service.

With the newer DualShock 4 that's come out alongside the PS4 Slim, the controller has seen a further improvement with the addition of a wired connectivity mode, eliminating input lag associated with Bluetooth connections.

You will, however, need a PlayStation camera if you want to use a PlayStation VR, since the headset uses the camera to know where your head is. With the PSVR, the camera has fast-changed from an optional accessory to an essential piece of kit. - though you'll find it comes bundled in with a PSVR starter pack.

The Xbox platform also stands apart thanks to Xbox Game Pass. This subscription service gives players access to a rotating list of more than 100 games for a monthly fee and first-party Xbox games come to it on release day. One Xbox One game on the horizon that will arrive on the service is Halo Infinite, which is sure to be one of the best games on the Xbox One.

It's worth bearing in mind that when it comes to the next generation Xbox is supporting cross-generation play so all of its new releases are going to work on your Xbox One for a good while. Sony on the other hand is looking to embrace PS5 exclusives, so if you're looking for a current-gen console with staying power the Xbox One could come out on top.

Sony's PlayStation Now service, like Game Pass, was a game subscription service that, for a flat monthly fee, gives you access to a library to hundreds of games. In terms of quantity of games, it won out but Xbox has the edge when it comes to quality as Xbox puts its latest releases on Game Pass on day one, which PlayStation didn't. While PS Now is no more, that's been merged into PS Plus instead.

When it comes to future-proofing in the face of the next-generation consoles, it's certainly worth noting that the base-level PS4 doesn't offer any of the 4K capabilities of its Xbox One S counterpart and Microsoft's commitment to cross-generation support through its Smart Delivery system means that your Xbox One is likely to stay relevant for longer. Though it should also be noted that Sony is offering backward compatibility in the PS5 and upgrades to new-gen versions of games.

The core system does not come with any games. However, you can easily download digital games from the Nintendo Store (even free ones), so you could, theoretically, never buy a physical game for the console and still play whatever you like. There are some retail bundles that do come with physical games and/or digital download codes. There are also special editions that come with games and other items, such as collectibles. The standard $299 package, though, has no games inside.

You need to use the dock that comes with the Nintendo Switch to connect it to your TV. The dock has an HDMI port built-in. Connect the HDMI cable that came with your console to this port and then connect the other end of the cable to your television. There is no way to connect your Switch to the TV without using the dock (at least no way officially sanctioned by Nintendo). There is also no official way to connect the Nintendo Switch Lite to your TV.

This is not possible. The Nintendo Wii U uses discs for games while the Nintendo Switch uses small cartridges, similar to an SD card. There is no disc system in the Nintendo Switch or its dock that would accept a Wii U game. However, as with the 3DS, a lot of games that originally came out for the Wii U are now available on the Switch. You will need to re-buy them though.

Nintendo unveiled the Switch on March 3, 2017. The Nintendo Switch price was $299 at launch, which significantly undercut the prices of the Sony PlayStation 4 ($399 at the time) and matched the then-current price of the Xbox One S. Nintendo has an up-and-down history when it comes to consoles, but the Switch was an instant classic.

Depending on the retail outlet, there might be bundles on offer that come with different accessories, games, or other materials in addition to what you see above. However, every Nintendo Switch retail box will have the same core items.

However, Nintendo keeps all this content behind two subscription-based paywalls called Nintendo Switch Online and Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. The good news about this is that your base monthly subscription gets you access to over 100 NES, SNES, and Game Boy games, which you can play as much as you wish with no extra fees. The expansion pack also gives you access to Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy Advance games. The bad news is that if you just want to buy one of those games à la carte, you are out of luck, as Nintendo has done away with the Virtual Console service we saw on previous systems.

As with every other modern console, the Nintendo Switch relies on an internet connection to deliver updates, downloadable content, game news, and more. It also has an online store where you can purchase new games, watch trailers, and even play free demos. This is called the Nintendo eShop. 041b061a72
